1980's Ariens with the Kohler 19hp series II engine, front and rear PTO's, 48 inch mower deck and 54 inch wide blade. I bought it without a deck and paid $300 for the deck and then put new blades and serpentine belt in it. It's driven off the front PTO with a drive shaft. But I never really cared for the way it mowed so I used it occasionally for pushing dirt or snow around and loved how it worked for that! I put new Carlisle bar tread type rear tires on it and if my pictures work in here you should be able to tell that they don't even have the (what do we call them in here?) nubs worn off.
I thought I had removed the power steering hydraulic cylinder but my memory must be going. When I got to where I could get a good look at it I found the hydraulic Lift cylinder is what I removed. I thought I had rebuilt one of the two and was working on the other when the entire project went into hibernation. I moved in here around 10 years ago and stored the Ariens GT in my garage where it promptly got buried and forgotten about. I did finally get the right o-ring/seal kit and I don't remember if the shaft wasn't available anymore or if it was just outrageously priced, but I had a machine shop make me a new shaft out of chromed rod. When the weather is nice enough to work in the garage I've always been too busy to dig the Ariens out to where I could get to work on it. Plus, it's just not something I've needed since I've had practically no yard to mow and not much need of the blade. But now all of a sudden I was given short notice that the building I live in was sold and I need to move and the only place I could find doesn't have a garage and no place to park the Ariens.
I have a junk guy that will haul it away but I would feel terrible about doing that. Especially when I look around in here and see all the neat old tractors that these guys have kept going and I see so many that I used to have one similar to and wish I hadn't sent them to the scrapyard! But I need to find a new home for this in a Hurry. It's no beauty queen by any means but it ran terrific and once the hoses are plugged or the cylinder is reinstalled I have no reason to believe it wouldn't still run just fine.
So here's where it stands as of today, I don't want to rent a storage unit for $75 a month just for this and a couple other items that I have that are too big to fit through the doorway of my new home, and I really don't want to give it away to the junk guy. So if somebody could arrange to pick it up (preferably in the next couple weeks although I may be able to store it someplace on a very temporary basis) and offer me just about anything for it I would be happy just to see it go to a good home!
I forgot to mention where I live. I'm in Eastern Iowa just north of Davenport, IA.
