By the way, the Bolens is under lock and key (in my mind) so's you can't touch it. Oof! I gotta grab that darned key and lock it up in my VERY locked Office. Oh crap! The attachments are still at the bottom of the hill! Crap!

You do know these have universal keys, right? I have four spare ones.....

I gotta get this stuff outta site from YOU!

I sent my sister by your place on her way back to Donnelly tonight. Did you get a bagger for that, by chance. Looking like ya might need it.

WAIT! You don't like Model T's right? Crap! What am I going to do with that so's you don't see it or start wanting it?
CRAP.

Ya, hide it behind a classic car. I would never notice that.

I figured, you'd pawn this off on an (seemingly) innocent!

Crap!

Oh No! She grabbed the attachments! Where's my flashlight (that the boys haven't drained the batteries)?

Nooooooooo!

:-)

;-)

Whew! I didn't hear it start up (WAIT! it's dead cold right now, she'd never get it started) so it could be driven up onto the trailer.......

WITH the attachments. Were you wearing a wig? I thought I saw someone milling around down at the bottom of the hill.....

I went to get a gun but then my wife got home from work... then nothing, no-one.

Whew.

Crap.

Keys.

Oof.

Wait now! The Cat man can't be in two places at once can he? Up here and down there.

Oh no!

He has a teletransporter! Works on his REALLY smart phone!

Noooooo!

Give me my key back! I can't find it!

Oh crap! Where IS my key?

Where's my lawn tractor?

Where is my beautiful house? Where is my beautiful wife? Figure THAT out YOU! ;-)

I felt like I could update this thread with some good news.

Many things done already with greasing, oiling and adjusting/fixing.

Had engine issues. Got a second set of points and a condenser (genuine Kohler-WAY better than the set from my favorite parts store!!). Timing turned out quite correct with points at .020" and governor fully advanced. Had to buy a new (Chinese made light since I lent my old light to my son for his classic Pontiac) timing light to make it right. Have a new points push rod coming, need to get a new Facet electric pump coming (1-2 psi-impossible at my local parts stores) to replace the pump on that machine. Yeah, I should go back to that pump on the engine that's almost impossible to remove and repair.....

Hydro is very nice 'tho I wish for the "Cruise control" for tilling as "we" can get a little jumpy from time to time.

These Bolens tractors are the best! 40 years old and just waking up for this new owner!

It's been quite interesting perusing the other Bolens owner's threads!

Thank you.

p.s. This has been a good exercise in re-learning many things I've somehow nearly forgotten.

What a sweet tractor! The stack music is superb as well.

A good shot of snow today! It's winter here up here now!

What to use. What to use.......

*The motor grader? '53 Galion model 118. (IH UD-16 engine) Such a production to get it ready and willing but the then BOOM DONE!

14 foot moldboard (12' and 2'). Man that thing moves snow! Best "snow blower" I ever bought, it has a cab, a seat and a heater that cooks your backside right out of there! Stuck outdoors for a couple more years.

*The skid loader? ('83 Gehl SL4510. The smaller Pinto engine) A Tea Cup at a time. But super quick to make ready. AND fun to spin 'round! Plus it was Dad's. It has a home in the shop. I taught the neighbor how to drive it with a beer in his right hand.... One stick wonder....

*The Bolens? ('75? 2087 [no suffix] with the 53138 Kohler K532) With the "snow caster" on the front.

It tills gardens like nobodies business too!

Blue blazes, does it start and run nice! A little warm up when it's cold out and the hydraulics stop whining. It's stuck outdoors yet.....

Ready to go!

Hmmmmm.

The Bolens!!!!!

Nope. Couldn't get out of its "spot" in the yard. Too much snow.

Guess I need some chains huh? But I have the wheel weights.....

Oh bother.

Took out the skid loader. Back and forth. Back and forth. Repeat ad nauseum.

I STILL get a charge out of moving snow. Once I'm in/on the machine of choice.

What'd you do after work today?

p.s. I need diesel and starting gas for the grader.

What'd you do after work today?

I got a flat on my second pass, and had to resort to the walkbehind snowblower. I'll get that unstuck for ya if ya want. I still have you mapquested.

You thought I would forget?

I was hoping you'd forget about my whereabouts......... Minnewarshtub is NOT in the background of that pic...... ;-)

You're too far away to make it tonight with you being nearly 100 miles.......... And the roads. Ugh, you've an all wheel drive truck!

I'd say Hamm's pond is in your profile.....

No wait. You'd send your sibling to.....

Sorry to hear about the flat tire. Truly.

You got a cab on that "Imperial Walker"? I'd suspect as much...... :-)

OR

(Blows a raspberry at you)

Catch me if you can!

You haven't actually seen up in my yard have you (or your sister)? NO! NO! no.....

:-) :-)

2020.

Can’t believe it’s been almost six years since I was here last!
The Old Bolens runs like a clock.
STILL haven’t checked valve stem clearance. Maybe the noise is perfectly natural.
I baby him bad and could do much more maintenance yet.
Oh oh, a threat still lingers here on this site! Hehehe!
Hope you’re doing good Cat!

2 years ago we replaced the coil. Put a $90 china unit on as nearing $300 from Kohler was not to be.
He would run great for awhile, get warm and BANG! he’d say.
Duane, you have less than a minute to get somewhere to shut him down.
Using a condenser from a 70‘s Chevrolet small block as I don’t have much faith in condensers from the parts store or the Kohler store. I need to find values and change everything over to capacitors.
Two tractor mags are done already and the skid loader needs it too.

Maw wanted some more garden space for the russets she got. Yuck. Go red or go home...
So she marked it out, we had our garden here (we were actually squatting our garden on the land next door) many years ago and have since bought that land. It was almost like I’ve tilled that before...

Have a question: Hydraulic valve return to neutral spring and detent to hold in Float.
It’s getting stickier and harder to move the spool valve to raise, lower or float.
Ideas? A fella can see it but without pulling the engine ya just can’t get at it to pull it apart, clean and oil/grease that little assembly on the bottom of the valve. The auxiliary works as new but no extra bits there.
