I have a little 27cc leaf blower in the shop that won't start.  It is getting fuel and spark but has very low compression between 45 & just barely 50 psi. I know the compression needs to be 90 or better for it to have power. When I try to start it I get nothing, not a pop not a grown nothing.

So my question is even with low compression shouldn't I at least get a pop or something even with low compression?

Bill , not sure at what psi you need , (I think I asked that some time ago )  could you try a little motor oil to seal the rings andsee if it starts?

Howdy Bill..  2-strokes need higher compression to start than 50# for sure.  Try this-  Remove the Muffler and evaluate the piston and cylinder..  Look for scoring or aluminum deposits..  If there is some you are done.  If you are emotionally attached to the thing find a new block and R/B it.  OR-  Go spend about the same $$$ on another one..  If the bore looks OK then check for muffler blockage or blown C/S seals..  (lots of oil/dirt will be present in the area of the leak..

Good Luck!

No there is no attachment to it.  It's a craftsman I'll check the cylinder through the exhaust port for any signs of scoring.  But even at  #50 shouldn't  do something like make a pop?  or some noise?

Put a little 2 cycle gas right into the carb throat and it should pop a bit but you better eat your Wheaties if you keep trying to get it started!   :wallbanging:

Well I pulled the muffler and sure enough it has all kinds of scoring in not only the piston and rings but also the cylinder wall.  I have a friend who scraps metal so I'll give it to him.   I did try to pour some 2 stroke gas down the carb and still didn't get anything but at this point it really doesn't matter.  Thanks to everyone for their help.
