I figured out the cross reference the first time awhile back and I have sold quite a few of these gauges.  5 1/4 is a little short but it leaves a "reserve" in the tank just in case you decide to make that final pass around the yard even though the tank reads empty.

I sell them for $18.

The Ford/New Holland: part # LB740378 has the Optional In Dash mounted Electric fuel gauge hook up on it.That's why it's so darn expensive from New Holland. Some of the LawnBoy badged machines used the dash mounted gauge with a Low Fuel light on the bottom left corner.

My neighbor Matt has a LawnBoy badged 1.Sorta looked like this. The little Gas pump has a red light in it.

Thanks everyone! Yeah, I saw the $95 price tag on the OEM Ford/NH one and almost choked!

Good to know it's a fairly common cross-brand part.

Ben, is this the one you sell? It shows $22 and out of stock..

Does anyone know the correct part # for the oil reservoir cap? Mine is cracked almost the whole way around. I ordered a $5 "oil cap" from searspartsdirect but it ended up being the wrong part

Here's the part I'm looking for

Measure the cap diameter and post a pic of the threads/underside of the cap. Simplicity uses what looks to be the same one on their FC series. I own one, and will measure it when I get home tonight. Should be lots easier finding one off a Simplicity.

According to Ford/New Holland, the reservoir is part # LB744216 @ $67+/-. The cap is part # LB709948. Cap Gasket is # LB709949. No prices listed for the cap or gasket. I would say get hold of New Holland and see if the cap is available!

The cap is roughly 3 1/4" outside diameter and 3" inside diameter. The best I could guess was 1/16" between threads as well. Any idea what part might work as a substitute?

On the plus side, the gasket looks good, just the cap is cracked

No dice on the Simplicity, it is 1/4" smaller.

Along with checking on Kenny's info, Eaton still uses the same size reservoir on their Eaton 700's.

Dang. I may have to just use an epoxy to seal it and sand it down

New Fuel gauge installed!

Its a bit shorter than the original, but that's OK. It will just tell me I'm empty before I really am.
