If I need to ever change the tire valve stems on my 12" wheels what is the rim hole size? Seeing for the Bolens 1053 thay call for part # 1716011 but give no specs. Then I see the 8" front rims with part # 1715855 for the front valve stem. What's the rim hole size on those, too?

When I replaced my rear tires I just used the valve stems in the tire machine at work.

Most automotive rims will have a .625" (5/8") opening so that answers for your rims. What machine model did you replace your valves on, JohnWR?

I don't know what size hole your rim has but valve stems come in several sizes .453 comes to mind and there are the steel stems that come with rubber washers that adapt them to differant sizes.A good parts guy be able to set you up with what you need.

Could the different part nos. be for different length of stems rather than hole diameter.

A tire shop should have every size you need and universal steel styles.    If they don't, tell them to go home and learn before coming to work and playing tire shop!

There is that possibility. Not sure.

I'm not sure what size the valve stems are specifically but I do know that they are a common size also used in cars. When I replaced the ones on my 1050 I just went to the local NAPA and bought a package.

I don't know the sizes, but there are at least 2 different valve stem sizes.

I had this problem a few weeks ago....I bought what I thought were standard size valve stems and they just "fell through the hole"!

NAPA has the larger sized valve stems.
