Hi All, I am reviewing replacement tire options for my 1966 Jacobsen Chief 1000. I will be replacing the original 23x8.50-12 Goodyears on the rear and 16x6.50-8 on the front. I mow with the 42 inch cast aluminum deck and would like to increase the mowing height which has me considering replacing the 23x8.5-12 Goodyears with  25x8.0-12 Carlisle All Trails. I would also increase the front tires diameter by 2 inches to have the deck level and gain a full added inch of mowing height. I was wondering if any members have gone through the process of converting over to the ATV tires and possibly a larger diameter tire on the early Jacobsens as I am considering? Thank you.

Those All Trials are a fantastic tire. As long as you have the clearance they will be a good choice traction wise. I think Carlisle has charts on their site that will give you the overall height and width of the tire. You might want to check this because it is usually a bit different than the nominal size.

 Welcome to the forum!  I put 26X12-12's on a Craftsman GTV. Had to raise the fender pan an inch for them to clear, though. I would think the Jake would be easy to put the taller tires on.
