In a few month I am sure this will be ready for you judges to tell me what I did wrong or right. First I got to take care of my honey bees, then I have to hunt until I fill my freezer for the winter. Also hunt for a few that can not.

Looks like a fun Project, The Bolens 1000 and Bolens 900 are my two favorite's in the Tubeframe series.

I love the Fiberglass fenders , tires and seats on these!

What kind of paint do you normally use?

I was able to confirm atleast the real early "Cordovan" paint was actually metallic up until atleast 1966 which means the 1050 and 800 I did a few years back is the wrong color. If your feeling adventurous NAPA had some real close matches to the "Corodovan" that I can give you codes for but I have not done any real testing yet.

Great restore project you have there.

If you need more deer come my way. We have more deer than people around here. Had one take out my Honda Odyssee last winter. Hit him at 75 MPH and he got up after 20 minutes and ran away. Bastage. (Yes, it's a misspell.)

Do you have any info on that early metallic paint? I would be interested to see an original tractor with that paint still on it.

In the middle picture.  What is the lever on the tower.  I was thinking of a way to engage and disengage the hydro belt on my 1256 from the seat.

Yes NAPA is but 6 miles from me and I think that a lot of what goes into this restore will come from them. I usually use Rust-o-leum paint.

I always had a feeling there was a odd brightness to this paint when I was scraping it but never had a good sample to confirm.

This NOS PTO is a perfect example of the early "Cordovan" This was under the ID tags of all my Bolens up until around 1967 or so then the brown seemed to get darker with no metallic.

I'm not real up on Bolens. What is the difference between the 850 and the 900?
