I've been looking for a lawn vacuum to pick up the grass clipping in the front yard. Well I needed some gas for the mowers and came across this at a small resale store. I went in and asked about the machine and if it ran. Older women looked at me and said, "Do you think I pushed it outside?"

It was attached to this:

She grabbed the key and let me drive it around the parking lot. No Smoke and no funny noises from any of the gears. When asked about the vacuum she said, "It's suppost to run, but there is no way I can pull the rope to start it. There is another motor that comes with it."

It was a package deal and also came with this detatcher.

She tells me a price that I can't refuse, half of what just the vac is going for around here. I tell her I'll be back in twenty minutes with the trailer. I run home and hook the trailer. Momma comes out of the house wanting to know why the trailer is on the back of the truck; she's already told me several times "you don't need another tractor." I tell her that I found a leaf/grass vacuum "system"; just like I've been looking for, but older. Now momma is not talking to me.

Once I got home, pulled the rope on the vacuum's engine. Nothing. Oh well, I figured this motor was junk because of the extra motor. Checked to see if it had gas, the tank was shut off. Pulled rope again, fired right up no smoke, no noises.

Both machines got a much needed oil change and a splash of gas. Then it was off to test on the back yard. It did pretty good.

Need to sharpen the blades and adjust the deck.

The good: like new front tires, new battery, nice seat, and running.

The bad: rear and vac unit tires are weather checked, front lower grill is broke at mounting point, needs new tarp on vacuum unit (found a picture that shows a hard shell on top).

I need a Manual for the tractor and vacuum unit. None in the manuals section.

Anyone have an idea of the year of manufacture? Pictures of tags:

That looks like a good find.I'm sure you'll get a lot of use out of it.

I found a manual for the deck here. It is a 1973 38" cut. Good score on that group!

Nice score, not many of those Sears vacs left, and in good shape.

I think I know where to get a manual, but recent security upgrades blocks from from alot of websites now...I can't even get on craigslist anymore. I'll try to remember to look when I get home.

I looked the vacuum up at Sears parts and the manual is not available there! But the parts breakdown shows up.

Thanks Kenny,

I found that one last night doing "research". I was hoping that one of the members here might happen to have one.

The search continues.
