Raising hogs can be fun and fascinating but the guesswork can be ,well, annoying. My expecting sow went past what I expected would be 3 months 3 weeks 3 days ,3 in the morning and 3 below zero. Full moon is next. Getting up twice during the night can make me edgy. My wife thinks I am that way anyway.

I hope she gives birth soon, for your sake. How many hogs do you have?

Well the way I hear it you can "roll your own", visit Cuba, or do the Roger Miller thing. Which reminds me - I have some homemade elderberry wine left :yelclap:

Sparky, Thats the way it went when we were in the hog business. It had to be 3:30am, atleast 12" of snow on the ground, and about 10f out side the barn, and the full moon. You knew it was time. LOL

Back 15 years ago, when my son was young, 3 thru 6 yrs old, we went through atleast 15 VHS tapes of that movie. He had to watch that movie every night, I thought I would loose my mind before he out grew that. He's in college now, and I would give anything to back in time and watch it with him again.

So the third sow picked yesterday morning at 4 am to bless my family with 10 more happy squealers. One needed attention last night so we fussed with it in house fed it and answered it's calls in middle of night. She returned the favor by becoming feisty and wanting the real source of food. So out she goes to momma tonight and it was like being out of pen for a minute... Perfect! The pigs are happy and warm , the homemade wine is still in stock . The count was 115 days. :D
