Hi, I just found this place while looking for info for my 1220, after 45 yrs it needs a rebuild. It still runs great, but she's smoking worse and leaking oil.

I'll probably be bugging for info now and then, so be warned. :D

I'm in northern Michigan, small town born and raised. Retired and having fun fixing up the old beast.

Wife and I went looking for a new tractor, but after seeing how they build the modern stuff, decided to just fix up the Bolens.  I can't believe how cheap the new ones are.  Made to throw away after a few years I guess!

As Arnold would say, " I'll be back "

Welcome, Avery! I think you'll be able to receive any kind of assistance you may need from all the great members on this forum. You definitely made the right decision by keeping the Bolens, rather than buying one of those new new disposable tractors! Once you put a little time and $ into your 1225, it could last you (or your descendants) another 45 years!

Welcome to the group.  The others should be along shortly.  Or at lest the guys that didn't go to the Bush Hog reunion and plow day.  I had a 1220 once but I am not much help for you.  Sit back and relax and some useful information should be along soon.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I have the engine torn down and everything looks good, except this.  Hoping to come up with the right fix.
