Well I bought one of the infamous Lawnboys with gas tank problems. In 1994 Toro was fined, over these models of Lawnboy, due to them not wanting to fix faulty parts. The nipple (that the gas line attaches to) has broken off of the fuel shut off and I have tried every product under the sun to fix it. The gas tanks have been discontinued 20 years ago and I am looking for a way to fix it. I am thinking about buying one of these:
I was going to drill another hole in the tank and place the petcock thru the hole with 2 rubber washers on both sides.
Do any of you know a better way to fix it? I am really trying to think outside of the box here but I am very limited due to the part being discontinued. Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it?
It's a 1987 Model 8157. I have all original paper work with it. I got this from the original owner. His bank at the time was offering a deal if anyone switched so much money over to a certain account that they would get a Color Television and a Lawnboy Push Mower. He used the mower a handful of times and the nipple broke and he parked it in the basement. So it's been sitting since 1987 in a basement. It's all original and pretty good condition. I have all paperwork with it also.
