Ok just got this tractor home and it is smoking and no power it has the onan cckb ms 2440 on it so my guess is a broken ring any onan guys out there can give me advice my guy says 50 a hole to bore it what else should I ask him

I would first check the valve seals and guides and pull the heads to de-carbon them. That will also look at the bore and see if they have any scoring.

Smoking is not a good thing in an Onan because parts are not cheap.

 

My questions to ask would be whether it is oil burning or excess gas.  You CCKB should have an adjustable carb I think. 

 

See if the oil is too full or too thin (i.e., fuel is in the oil). 

 

If it has sat for some time, which means a ring is stuck in place, guys have reported all sorts of miracles from SeaFoam or Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas or oil.

I am going to pull the heads and take a peak anyone have all the clearance specs and torque specs for a cckb I don't think it is the valve seat it is all cast iron block and seats I was told could be carbon the guy I bought it from said a guy told him he had just rebuilt it right before he bought it

When you pull the head of move the piston to the top and see if you can move it back and forth. If it rocks back an forth then you will be needing a rebuild. But my suggestion would  be to repower it with something else.

No I can't do that. To repower this would be sacrilege . I will rebuild but never repower it

If it has just been rebuilt and not ran very much, the rings may not be seated as yet!
