We'll almost surely have all our corn shelled by or before end of October.  All depends on moisture.  Wanna let Mother Nature do all she can before even thinking about propane!

FYI

we sell propane at the company that I work for. They say its going to be a bad year again. We booked our gas last month for $1.50 a gallon.

Everyone needs to fill up now on their heating supplies. Summer fill for heating oil is 3.20 here. Driver told me next month it will go up 30 cents.

We booked just 2500 gallons of drying gas plus a summer fill of 1000 gallons. Hope thats enough, but kind of doubt it.

Nice pictures, I have a question when do you guys plant soybeans out west?

All the beans here in the middle of PA are still greener than the grass on my lawn!

DrivE
We plant our beans mid to late MAy. The soybeans we plant are an early mid season plant.

Soybeans will start to change color when the plant realizes that the days aaewgetting shorter and sunlight is not as powerful as it was in July. Are the beans your way edible beans, used in canning etc. Or they could be Lima beans or another variety. If they are soybeans they will turn very shortly.

Yeah the beans here are planted (mostly in early to mid June) as I think the farmers don't want them and corn silage ready at the same time. I will take pics when all the guys are doing harvest. And yes just soybeans for the moo moo's. I have eaten them fresh out of the roaster though and see why cows like them lol.
