Lost Network

Have fun tonight with my network


son stated he was having problems with the network


so I rebooted the modem and the routers

his came back but mine network connection did not

tested with other network cards in my pc and still no network connection

tested an old spare pc and still no network


tried a different router and it works

now I have network again


the router went bad tonight

it is a 8 port router and had to put a 5 port router in


time to get a 8 port router again

to many pcs and network printers


at less I can work on it and know want to look for 

thanks to the old job I had

Routers are one of those items that are often overlooked. You would think they would last forever with no moving parts in most except for maybe a tiny fan. I have seen a few of them go bad in the last couple years. Glad you got it figured out.

We have a unit at work that was 24. We have a couple of them, they work well... Except ports 8, 11, & 23 on one just died one day. No reason, no storm we know of, just quit. Lights work, just no joy. That took a while to figure out.

Routers can be a funny beast.  I've had few of them go out but when they go there really is no indication except trial and error especially when just one port dies.  Glad you got it worked out.
