I came home from work today and started cutting grass. We found a short block a couple weeks ago for the 128 and redid all that. It was running great.

Today. Go to start it and the alternator belt is slipping. Change the belt. The belt I had needed to be a 1/4 inch longer. I worked hard to get that belt on.

Then I go cut grass clutch won't disengage. Fiddle with that. Then it starts slipping.

Then it shuts off for no reason. Loose wire.

I came in told my wife I was going to go buy a brand new tractor. She stood there looking at me with her mouth open. She said you didn't just say that. I went in a tirade about I'm tired of fixing stuff just to cut grass.

Calm now. I'm not buying a new tractor! Well maybe next spring....gonna do some research.

Maybe a newer tractor instead of a new tractor might have a better WAF!

my reasoning for having more then one old tractor is so I can work on them when I want to, if the one I am mowing with acts up I park it and use another one. when I feel like it I work in it and have it ready for when I need it.if all I had is a new one when it had a peoblem I have to stop and fix it if I want yo or not.if you think new ones do not need help try and get it into a shop to be worked on in less then 2-3 weeks. anyhow that is what tell my wife.I have 5 GT'S and have less money in all 5 then what 1 good new 1 would cost.the other day I was mowing and had a man here working and said do you realize you used 3 different tractors to now the yard, I told him they just needed to be run and thay all felt different and relaxed me.

She was surprised because I hate new tractors.

Rub it in.

We have so many tractors but only 2 that we actually use. All restored cubs but a power king. I think there are 12 in the storage shed and 2 in the garage we use. 128 and 109 that actually get used.

Like I always say, If you want to have an older tractor and have it be dependable, completely rebuild it Engine, bearings, ect and you will have years of trouble free service!

This tractor has cut a few acres every summer for the last 20 years. It's been trouble free mostly. I guess everything I had trouble with I had apart when I rebuilt the engine.

Kubota bx series. Bucket. Mower deck. And some nice options. Sweet deal...I might just do it next spring.

Hard to beat the Kubota BX for small tractors. Got mine June of 2013. After looking for something with a loader and finding the pricing plenty high and only 2 wheel drive I
opted for a new BX2660. It is amazing what these little things will do. The deck comes
off and on easily. The loader comes on and off very quick also. I like the old stuff but when it comes to getting it done the Kubota is excellent.

That's exactly what I was building on kubota website.

Looks good. I think that might be my new purchase in the spring. Already forewarned my wife by texting her photos of it!
