I have a 1975 gravely 566 commercal 12 tractor. My forward and reverse adjustment is way off. It stays in gear in the neutral position and when I lock in forward it is not engaged right. I have to bring it the handle back and try to find the sweet spot. Can anybody tell me how to adjust that? Could the Lever be worn it goes on a key? This tractor is new to me.

Yes the lever could have a worn keyway and that makes it very difficult to adjust properly and still have both directions.  Pull the lever off and make sure its ok.  I had to purchase one for mine as it was worn out.
