All this Virginia work seems like it has you finding every little problem with the van Ken.  Probably a good thing if you're looking at South VA and further trips.

If it makes you feel better about sinking a few bucks into it, a new 3500 series van has a starting MSRP of $34K.

(Now I have to go see if the spare tire will crank down on the Dodge this weekend)

Yeah, I know how women are! You stand out there and cry until someone fixes it. Right? If that doesn't work, you hike your skirt up a little bit.

Did you learn all this from experience?

Another problem with the spare being underneath:

Say you're out cutting firewood and you get the truck a little heavy, so it's riding a little low.  You drive out over the rough path, but get to the gravel road.  You get a flat, likely because you were more than a little heavy.  Fortunately you brought a 20 ton bottle jack so you can still jack the truck up, this not being your first rodeo, but when you climb underneath you find that you ripped the sidewall out of the spare driving out on the rough path.

Speaking of spare tires.

Do any of you remember when the Ford F250's and the F 350's had the spare tire stored behind a hidden panel on the right hand side of the pickup bed.

The panel was on the right side in front of the rear tire just behind the cab.

Those were easy to get to and kept the tire dry and clean.

I had one of those pickups, darn good truck.  Shoot, all of them were pretty good back thin...
