I just got a cub original last week and I got it running. It doesnt smoke at all. But when I go through tall grass, up a hill, or try to work the engine it boggs down. Today I noticed a lot of smoke coming out of the breather and oil collecting where the breather vents. Does this mean I got a bad compression or is there an issue with the read valve in the breather and the engine is loosing vacuum. Im new to kohler k series, i normally work on briggs and stratton, so any advice would help

This happened to me with my Kohler K321 on my Ford LGT 145.

It was due to bad ignition timing because my points were pitted and corroded. Once I changed the points and condenser the problem went away.

Give that a try.

I will have to do that. when i remove the plug and check spark it is blue which means its hot.  I also got the timing set a 22 degrees btdc.  but i got two condensers on the coil. i dont know if the original one is bad so i added another, seemed to help some but its still not good
