Fellas, need some help either locating a head for this old girl or some options for the stripped exhaust port, planing it, tapping it?

Anyone with a parts machine out there?  only a few weeks left to get her running for the parade!  One screw hole is okay.  Threads on inside striped out completely, so no chance of threaded pipe going in.  the second screw hole is stripped too! Not trying to spend a ton of bucks.

Just a thought, can you come up with some way to make the holes studs? I have had luck in the past with laying thin pieces of soft copper in the holes and letting it form to make new threads. Not a perfect fix, but maybe plan B.

I would PM each of the site sponsors and see if anyone has the parts you need.

I'd take a shot at tapping that second stripped bolt hole. Do you think a machine shop would be able to re thread the pipe thread? It might be cheaper to find another part if you have to get a machine shop involved.

Can you drill out and rethread the two bolt holes?

Helicoil?

Available at some auto parts stores.

Tapping to a bigger size is worth a shot.

Clean the exhaust port and get a pipe tap (mine are 1" NPT) and re-thread the internal threads for a screw-in muffler.

I would either try to re-tap the inner larger hole as stated or it maybe easier to get tap for and drill/ tap or helicoil the two smaller flange holes.

You will most likely only be able to find a used head on Evilbay, maybe $100 if you get lucky.

Do we know if this is the same as the sears ST16 OH160?  It would seem reasonable to believe...

Your best bet would be to look at the 143.xxxxxxx number on your cowling. The exploded view should still be available at sears parts direct website and you can check by part number.

BTW, I am about 98% sure it will work, but it would be better for you to verify before ordering.

Yep, Tecumseh only built one OH160 for all makes. May have Different model numbers, but all the same part.

you can use a head from an OH120, 140 also I believe. The OH180 is slightly different.

Thanks! The part # is 33465.  I have found them all over the place online anywhere from $200-$300 dollars.  Even found a whole engine for $300 with free shipping on ebay. Wondering what the best plan of action should be...buy the new part?  Buy the parts tractor? Buy an engine? I'd rather spend as little as possible as the tractor is pulling a float for a fundraiser event in Oct.  I'm afraid if I get the other tractor I'd wind up restoring it too...
