Wow a dropped axle on a GT

I didn't drop it.  I turned it around backwards.

originally mounted on the end of the frame, not underneath

Correct but one of the things im building this for is ground clearance.

I love the look of those 520 axles

I do to and regret sending it with frankincub.  I agree 31" tires are to tall.  I think im going to go with 26"ers.  I can lower the front axle if I absolutely have to.  I need to get the tires and see how they actually fit.

You may have said somewhere, but why would you need all this ground clearance?  You going "stump jumping" or something?

I want to be able to lift the deck high enough to clear a 4x4. I have several rocky places in my yard.

That I can understand.  Best to have a shaft drive deck if you're gonna have that much deck variance, so the system off the 990 would do the job.

I can't even begin to think about deck configuration. I may do a 3ph self driven deck just because I can lol. I am getting a little excited. Bushings and gaskets have started coming in the mail. I'm guessing the oil pan will be here tomorrow. The body will be the hard part of this build.

You need to put on a pair of horse blinders so you can concentrate & not see shiny objects off to the side.  There's only 5 weeks till plow day ya know!

I was being humorous about the dropped axle. It reminded me of the ole street rod days.

Im going with Maxxis Bighorn 2.0's  26" x 11" x 12" for the rear.  I think im going to have to lower the front axle to sit level.  I also have the oil pan for the engine.  It should start looking like a GT here in the next couple days.  Ill be using the seat pan from a 1450 cub.  So far its the only body panels I have figures out.  Pics to follow later this week.

I'm beginning to think this is going to be a tactical tractor.

Of course the oil pan mounting holes are a inch wider than the frame. I also can't find the wheel horse dash I had planned on using. I sat some sheet metal on the frame just to get a little I idea. I hope to have the rear tires on tomorrow night. It's sketchy the way it's sitting and I'd like it to be more stable than it is before I really start working on it.

Tires line up great with the fronts and it sits level. I wonder if I could offset the engine like this?

Playing around with body panels. The cub fenders will need to be raised or trimmed. I like the mtd fenders to.

The MTD fenders look and fit better. You could make an engine mounting plate with welded in studs facing up and facing down as appropriate.
