Our new to us 2000 Yard King Performance GT.  Smoked so bad when we first got it due to warped heads.  Had heads resurfaced, new gaskets installed.  She runs like a swiss watch now.  I also put new deck belts and blades on her yesterday.  Mowed and swept the yard today without a hitch.  I kind of like this tractor, i have to admit.012.JPG 013.JPG

I have a 1993 yard king that I bought new. I still use it some. It's a great tractor. Mine is red. A little bit older than yours. Noel

Sometimes the best tractor is the one gets the job done without breaking down or breaking the bank!

Wow! some big tires on front of that one!  Guess that is MTD made?  I like the Color too. I could make my Speedex that color and like it! Ha!

I think it was made by Murray.  Aren't Murray and MTD one and the same?  Or at least now?

Actually the Murray brand is owned by Briggs & Stratton who owns Simplicity and Snapper.  Simplicity doesn't make a "box store" level tractor so the Murray riders are currently contracted out to be built by MTD.  It even says B&S at the bottom of the Murray web page.

I did not know that.  That being said, I hope it is okay to put my tractor on the MTD section being there does not appear to be a Murray section I could see.

I have a Murry that looks just like this tractor and have to admit it has mowed more grass than any other mower I have ever owned. I got it 7 years ago used when a guy brought it into the junk yard I worked at. He fired it up and backed it off the trailor, and then pulled it over next to the shred pile. I thought it deserved better them that, so i bought it and brought it home. it had a cracked oil sump pan so after using it a year that way, i put a used engine on it and it is still going.
