I bought a JD 400 garden tractor w/ a Kohler K532 engine. The engine is a points and condenser coil engine not an electronic one. The key switch has 5 posts, M,L,S,G,B. The G and M posts have no wire to them. The tractor will start, but when you turn the switch off the tractor keeps running. I would believe that its because of those posts not being hooked up, but I do'nt have a wiring diagram to know where to run the wire. HELP.

You have the wrong ignition switch.  On yours,

M is magneto

L is load

S is start

G is ground

B is battery (or "power in")

That is a switch for a magneto ignition (no power to the magneto when key is on, ground to magneto when key is off)

You need a switch for a battery ignition (battery to an "I" ignition terminal when the key is one, cut off power when the key is off.)

The part number is AM32318.

I sell them for $12 each.

The one at Deere is probably $45. SuperABen there is the one you need to talk to, he supplies parts for lots small engine stuff and is a straight shooting honest person. Just click on his name to the left of his post and on the next screen choose the 'Send me a message' tab.
