I recently purchased a Gilson lawn tractor it runs just as good as it looks.  It belonged to an old man who hardly ever used it. It came with a front snow blade that looks like it hasn't been used twice. I can barely read the model but it looks like 53028 but I can't find out any information on it.  I am trying to find out what year it was made and if this is a good model #.  I am wanting to order a manual for it. I has a single cylinder 16 hp briggs and stratton. Also any Idea what its worth would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to GTT. That is a nice looking machine. Tio me, it looks like a Garden Tractor. Garden Tractors are generally stronger and capable of more than lawn tractors. Check our Manuals Section for the manual. Good Luck, Rick

Welcome to the forum. That's a very nice Gilson. It's a strong looking tractor and looks well maintained.

They are great tractors. Sturdy, strong, and underrated. Gilson was absorbed by Lawn Boy, which was absorbed by Toro. That said, parts are non-existant out side of standard bearings. That Briggs engine is great, but also obselete and getting harder to find other than tune-up parts. I have two MW gear drives. Value wise, it is worth what someone would pay for it. Realistically, about half what a comparable Cub Cadet would sell for and about 1/3 of a comparable Deere.

Thanks for the feedback. I really like this garden tractor and it has power to spare.
