I found an 1985 318 last week and was able to buy it reasonably, It is in good condition and runs good, I need an owner/operators manual to identify parts and maintenance items required.

I am sure one of the 318 owners can help you out.  If you need info on the 120/140 and the early 300 series (300/312/314/316K) I have a fair amount available.  Which deck does the 318 have?

I've got a John Deere 318 also, and find that it's a grand piece of equipment. The only thing I don't like much is those plastic headlights!! They seem to be fogged up somewhat. Other then that it's fine. Nice choice!! Good luck.

Congrats on the 318. Good ones are getting hard to find around here.

Hi Folks! Thanks for replying so quick.  This machine is well built and I will have many years of usage and enjoyment of owning it.

Travis the Deck is the 50 inch model. Headlights seem to be clear when they are working.  Only one was lighting up when I bought the tractor, I swapped the working bulb to the other sockets and found they still didn't work. Traced problem to the ground side of  bulbs. The problem seems to be where the black wire goes into the socket. Does anyone know if the wire is a push on tab or permanently fixed in socket? Anyone have experience with this small problem?
