Why do some 14's have the running boards extended over the front wheels and some not? Was that an option or just something they started doing early production or late production? Thanks

I have wondered the same thing.  16's had them too.  As far as I know they were only on 74,75,76 models.  People with long legs,  or extra shelf space to put tools on ????

Any body have any ideas why or what there purpose is ???    Noel

My friend has a 73, and it does not have them.

If you have a look at a parts breakdown you can see the serial no. breaks for the different parts. That could then be crtoss referenced to a ser. no to year chart.

The last 2 years of the 14 had the extensions, the same 2 years they made the 16.

Air flow under them, creates front end lift. That's good for mowing over

ditches at high speed. :smilewink:

Other than that, they just look good.

At 9 miles an hour, which is the top speed of a 14, that could be true.   Noel
