Ah, yep, and it looks to be cast iron not steel (unless cast steel), i knew something was missing with mines, i think mines had just the rod welded to the beam.

seen a lot of pictures with the wheel being rubber, on a small sized rod. But most of them seem to be on the right hand side. I thionk this tractor was taken aprt, and the owner forgot how it went back together.

Ah, makes sense, iron would be pre war, had a look and see it in the pictures too, good eye.

 

Figured my Speedex at 1951, model 8 Briggs flywheel date, looked like the engine was never removed so i guess it correct, with yours having a Clinton it ventures a thought, i wonder if Speedex switched to Clinton like DB did with Continental at the same time then switch back ?
