Recently inherited a Ford yard tractor from my father in law.

It has a hydrostatic transmission. I guess a Jacobsen.

I Googled the number and keep getting LGT.

Mine does not have LGT in the nameplate model number.

I want to know what type of oil to put in the transmission.

will plain non detergent 30w do?

It has the in-line filter.  What is the number for this filter?

How much can I pull before I risk burning out the transmission?

thanks,

I use Mystik AW Hydraulic Oil ISO 68, I think I got this from Tractor Supply. The filter is a FRAM PH-16

Welcome to the forum. The Fram PH16 is the spin on filter. I do not have the in line filter number right now but can look at the one I removed to tell you what that number is & from something other post in this forum that this part would be available only at New Holland Dealers. I went through the conversion to the spin on filter shown in this post http://gardentractor...s-fluid-change/

Welcome to GTT. Please post a few views of the tractor. It may be an even better tractor than a yard tractor. Check the Manuals Section for what you may need. Three free downloads per day are allowed. Good Luck, Rick

 Welcome to the forum! That model number is for an LGT 165 closed side ('77-83). A good quality Hydraulic/trans oil is what I use.The inline filters are quite expensive, around $100. It would be cheaper to convert to the spin on.
