OK guys, I'm a little out of my territory here, so I need some help. A friend of mine has just asked me to restore his Cub Cadet Model 128. He is currently getting the 12hp Kohler rebuilt, and thought since it's torn apart this much, he'd like to go all the way with a full blown restoration.

Here is my problem. I know nothing about these tractors, as I'm a straight John Deere collector. Here are some questions I came up with that I'm hoping some of you can answer, just so I know what I'm getting myself into:

-The tractor is yellow and white, so I need to know where I can find the correct paint. Is it still available and easy to find?

-As for the decals, are they still available or will I have to look into getting them reproduced?

-Since I have never worked on one of these, can I still get a parts manual so that I can start getting familiar with how to take it apart and resemble it?

-Are parts still available or will I have to start looking for someone who can provide me with used parts?

I have only seen the tractor one time when he asked me to replace the brakes for him, but it's been so long ago that I don't remember what the condition of the tractor was. I told him, due to my current schedule, I wouldn't be able to start on it for about six to eight months from now, and he seems to be OK with that. So since I have some time, I'd like to get a parts manual so i can start studying.

I appreciate any and all help.

Thanks!

I went to Sherman Williams automotive paint store
And they were able to cross reference the codes
that I got when I Googled ( Cub Cadet paint codes).
The serial # will determine the code . There are different
Whites and yellows. Hope that helps

Parts are available online for most any common wear item or through Cub Cadet dealers yet.  There are also many places out there that sell parts that are not as common or N.L.A..  Down your way used parts can be purchased from Ray Weaver.  He is in stephens pa.  There are also others that are on here or on some of the cub cadet websites that can supply used parts.  Manuals can be acquired from ebay or I am sure that Jensales has what you need as well.

Here is a link to the CORRECT paint colors for cub cadets by serial number.

Also here is a link to decals for it from Maple Hunter.  A good place to get decals, I have used them in the past on my Massey 12H and other tractors.

Any more questions fire away and I will see if I can help.

Thanks for the help guys! At least I know more than I did before, and now have some good reference points to go to if I get stuck or have problems.

Thanks again!
