My buddy picked up a bolens 1886 that had sat for years and doesnt run for free with the rotary tiller, and snowblower. The starter gear is badly sheared and broken. It will crank the engine, but it gets caught every few revolutions and you have to un jam it with a big screwdriver. We had to pull the motor to remove the starter... I can't find the gear anywhere, I have been to several auto parts stores, and looked on the internet. The only thing that I found looks like it won't fit. The starter its self has a tag on it that i cant read, but it certainly doesn't say kohler. See it for yourself. Thanks for any advice.20140719_223418.jpg 20140719_223406.jpg 20140719_223356.jpg Screenshot_2014-07-20-16-15-17.png 20140720_161532.jpg

Have you tried our site sponsors. They may be able to find you a good used gear or a used starter.

That is a great tractor. Did you download the manual from our library? One of our sponsors can probably help you with the part. Good Luck, Rick
