Old tractors are such fun! Is that on the LGT 165 K341? You'll need to check the deck and head in that area to make sure it's flat. I've seen hard carbon buildup on the deck that needs to be removed before a new HG will seal properly.

If your head is not flat you can surface it yourself with 200-300 grit wet dry paper taped to glass. Go in a figure 8 motion till the head shines. That means you have taken down the high spots. There are videos on YouTube of people doing this if you do a search. I did this with a kohler k241

Not on LGT 165. This is from a different one, but has a 14 hp in it. Was running very hot, found the points had moved from where I set them. It was very late in timing, I think. This 14 hp engine is one we put together to replace a 12 hp that split the piston. Any way, long story. The LGT 165 is running good so far.  Took the deck off the one that blew this head gasket and put it on the LGT 165. 165 worked great.  Noel

Do you need a head gasket, Noel?
