So I'm currently looking at a mf 1010 4x4 with a belly mount mower and a quick attach loader it has just over 2000 hrs (cutting grass) it's a sharp looking machine the fellow thinks it needs a clutch but I'm thinking more... If you try and drive it in any gear you can hear gears clashing like trying to shift with out pushing the clutch in it does it in every gear and in high/Low leading me to believe that it's got a broken shift fork in the high/low range he's willing to sell it for 2000 delivered with the Fel and belly mount blower (also might see about a blower) loader and tractor are in nice shape plus it has new tires would it be a gamble to buy this?

The clutch releases fine and doesn't seem chattery also goes into gears easy

I would call my local MF dealer and describe the situation. See if they can offer any insight.

I agree.  It's hard to know what parts might be NLA these days.

2 grand isn't a bad gamble, as most could be gotten back just from the sale of the loader alone.
