When a hydro is bypassing is it in the pump or in the rear?

Pump, and/or fixed displacement motor.  The rear end is simply gears, and the oil reservoir.

don't know what brand we are talking, but most have a lever, stud, pin to pull/turn/push to release the drive so to push the tractor. I would make sure you have that seated before thinking it is shot. I've had very few Hydros that are shot or non-working, even when rest of tractor looks like crap. Some wheelhorse are hard to find valve and is more like a pipe plug to loosen it, but don't remove just loosen to free the drive and re-tighten to lock the drive in.

The 990. With being a 2 speed rear I wouldn't think it would have the tow valve.

I like this tractor just poopooed about the hydro situation. All I know is it speeds up when going down hill. I'm not talking a little either. 30w plus a little 80/90w tremendously helps the issue. I wish it was something easy.

If the hydro is messed up it'll be a financial hit that I can't take. It sucks knowing I have a perfectly good hydro from a 520 wheel horse
