I know a few have spoken about remaking these. Personally, I'm against it. That and all other OEM parts. But that's just me.

That's awesome luck you have. Bravo! I love the pure rusted seating in a field for 20 years look.

Welcome to the hoarding disease :) It's a good thing!

I'm with you on that. I want one too, but I want to have the satisfaction of making

my own, if I can't find one. I'd hate to see the Hogs turn into kit machines, like

some other brands.

Great finds there rbooker.

sadly ive had the hoarding disease for quite a while and it just keeps getting worse. my wife says you cant have every tractor thats out there. i tell her that i understand that, but every one i get puts me one closer to that goal.

it does appear to be. ill have to look a little closer when i pick it up. hopefully that will be in the next week.

on a similar note...regarding the extra battery box i got from you scott did you notice that it had faded out remains of the yellow hog on both sides just like one in an earlier post of yours? http://gardentractor...38395007797.jpg so theres more than one like that. individual dealer ad-on or factory?

also checked the front rims on the tractor i got yesterday and they indeed were originally white and have been painted over with yellow. rear rims are original white as well.

Saturday, September 20th.  Most come up the day or night of the 19th.  You can sleep at the field if you like.

picked up the other d4-10 today (the one with the bumper) or as i now call it "the bush ho" because that is what the sticker on the dash says. looks like the "g" was never on it. bumper looks great. has all 3 chrome pieces for the hood but the top is a short one. maybe they had started going to the short ones at this time? it does not appear to be broken on either end. one thing i thought was interesting was that it has a serial number plate on the deck. has the tra-10d engine which is stuck. it does not have a rear pto. took the shifter off and there is a bit of water in the bottom of the rear end as you would expect from over 20 years sitting out in the open. shifter was rusted stuck but easily freed up and fortunately the cluster gear looks great. will check out the ring gear in the future when i have time. could be a good parts tractor to make my other one whole, but could get a wild hair and try to restore it one day depending on the condition of everything else once i go over it well.

the bush hog projects will have to wait until i finish my current project: 1938 john deere unstyled L. they are hanging out waiting their turn.

On the short chrome on the hood, I have seen it but it has been on the later model D4-12's. All of the 12's I have seen have the short chrome.

As to the short chrome, if there are no holes, or signs of holes being filled in where the chrome isn't, then it's in stock form.
