Well I had a senior moment for several months now. I kept thinking that my sons' B10 was a later one with the 243341 engine. The last time we started it(4 years ago) there was a slight sound that I feared was the rod, so we have not run it. I picked up a 243341 engine in excellant running condition at the Brooklyn Ag Days over a month ago. Finally got the B10 in the garage. Took the hood and grill off. Its a 23D engine. I'm going to try to put the 243341 engine in but I'm concerned about the flywheel housing. If it fits, it will be a sweet running B10.

I had planned to canabalize the carb and magneto for my BIG TEN but that won't work now.

Anybody know if the 23D housing will fit the 243341 housing? Are their base mount patterns the same? Good Luck, Rick

Boy, I sure thought so. Why swap the housings? The 243 should be a drop in, as is.

I don't see why not, remove the rope starter cup and the drive shaft coupling bracket will bolt right on, the sump base is the same for the 19,23 and 24.

The 23D shrowd will have to be used in place of the 24 or you could just cut out the screen and used the original 23D bolt on screen.

The new engine is pull start but to put on a S/G it needs a bigger hole I think. My back went out yesterday after posting this thread. I'll be back when its better. Good Luck, Rick
