The 12x4 front tire on the PK started leaking , first thought was to try patching the tube , I mounted  these tires 2 new  using the old tubes almost 20 years ago without any problems so figured it wouldn't be much different , so far I'm wrong lol .  Small hole in the sidewall , have no idea how it got there , anyway put a patch on it , filled it with air and did a quick clean-up paint job on the inside of the rim . Going pretty good so far , OK now mount it and BE CARFUL DON'T PINCH THE TUBE ,  well it leaked out as fast as I could put the air in . Lets try this again, this time a little hole was in the along the drop section of the rim . Another patch , tested and installed with even trying harder not to pinch the tube . Filled it up , OK this time everything seems OK , went back an hour later , nope flat AGAIN , took it apart , little hole right next to where the last patch . Gave up and ordering a new tube today , maybe I should order 2 lol

I've had some battles with tires as well. The worst ones for me seem to be the fronts on 6 or 8" rims. They also are the ones most likely to be leaking. Rears seem to be much more durable/ puncture proof.

The tubes are probably rotted. I'd say if you got more than 20 yrs out of them you did good. I've seen tubes get punky feeling and you can literally tear them apart just by pulling on them.

Al, just cover the whole tube with patches! Then it will be harder for it to puncture!

Just do a patch and then blow the tube up to check.  Once it is up go the red green route DUCK TAPE :rocker2: .

The tube  has so many patches on it already , would take too much to cover it lol

I fought a leak like that in my sons BMX bike, drove me nuts. After 4-5 patches got a new tube then started again. I had check the rims, sanded it, duct tape over spokes, ran my hand around inside of tire. Finally the last time I took my time with the tire, ended up finding a small metal sliver on the sidewall. pulled it an no problems since.

Fought the front tire on the son's Sears 725 a couple times, new tube fixed that too

Sounds like something is still in that tire. Check it a lot before you put in the new tube.

The other night I looked online for tubes prices $8 on up but I wanted it soon and from what the members said about TS tubes I didn't want to go there . I called the little garage that I get our cars inspected tires ect and asked if he could get one  , didn't even ask the price so when I picked it up he said $5 buck gave him $10 instead . It was a Firestone but made in China . I was carful installing it and as of this morning still  holding air :dancingbanana:  I counted the patches on the old tube counting the 2 I put on was 11 !!  I know what you are thinking when I installed this tire new almost 20 years ago I put a used tube with 9 patches in ,, well that's because I'm cheap lol
