I check this forum everyday and it is always disappointing to see virtually no activity. I wonder how many GT owners, especially ones who do their own maintenance, are still out there?

It's normal. The bigger the forum, the lower the percental activities of the members. Most of the members are lurkers, or they have a problem and when it's solved, you didn't hear anything more of them - but that you'll find in every forum...

And there will be chaos when 50 percent of a forum w/ 10000 members will post replies every day   e7f0d8f5fd.jpg

It depends on the busy or non busy season for many of us.
I am on quite a bit during the day and I still have about 10 pages of unread replies to new content. I just cleared it two months ago.
Often, guys are one forum specific too.

I am here! My tractor is broke, so I can't talk about what I do with it. And some topics get posted in the tractor forum to get more visibility.

Right now I am waiting the tractor fund to grow enough to get the parts needed.

Virtually no activity?   I see plenty of activity every day.  Are you clicking "View New Content"?  If you are just checking a few individual forums, you won't see very many new posts.  Hitting "View New Content" gets every forum & all the posts you haven't read.

Unfortunately, there aren't that many Ariens owners here, and generally, they aren't that many anywhere that I've seen.  Hopefully with time the Ariens members will increase here.

It's seasonal, too! Saturday in the summer is slow. They're all mowing and gardening, and such!

Not quite sure where you are not seeing activity. If it is the Ariens forum maybe that is the case as there are not a lot of active posting Ariens members on here. I just cleared out my unread content because I couldn't keep up and it is already up to 12 pages. There are busy times and slower times just like most things. Spring and fall are the busiest and winter is close behind them. Summer slows down because everyone is out and about doing things.

Things change daily with large fluxes with certain brands, if you watch CL you will see that right after good deals get bought up for certain brands the posting and replys for that brand here goes up, some weeks it is John Deere, others it is Bolens, so on and so forth.

Holidays and the winter months have a lot to do with it too, a lot of the sporadic posters and young adults are working full time or enjoying the spring, summer and early fall seasons, in the winter they will come back every day.

Many go around all the fourms or use many different fourms, it is such that i can follow some and just about time when they will pop up on each fourm before going to bed each evening, week ends, not so much.

From what I am seeing the Sperry Rand New Holland, Ariens tractors were well built machines that if the owners did just routine mataince they last and last.

I check my favorite brand section and on stuff I own when I need information but I am really a big Massey Harris tractor guy that got tired of other forums.

Sorry there aren't many Ariens owners here, but if I only checked my favorite brands, I too would be a bit lonely.  I visit them all, and find a lot of interesting knowledge I otherwise wouldn't.    Years ago I was going to get an New Holland S14, but sadly it was stolen from my cousin before I could go work a deal.

I would be more than happy to pick up a S18 or three and post away about it. I'll even up the ante and do a full blown restore thread this winter if I get laid off. One issue:

Can ya spot me 2 grand?

They don't run cheap here in Minnesota.

I lurk (at least twice a day minimum) because I have little to contribute, but much to learn. I enjoy the Forums - Recent Topics just to keep up with the recent posts. For future references, I save interesting post sites like the Blacksmith Bolt and Rivet site that was shared yesterday. When I have more time, I delve into the forum Barn section to read and learn what may be of need or interest. There are probably many like me that do the same.
