Gt 18 Starter Removal ?

hello there guys and gals i have a 1983 i believe  gt18 6 speed  917.253744  it was repowered by a briggs 18 twin  model 422437  type 1209-01  code 88081912  i have a problem i need to remove the starter and i cant for the life of me figure out how to remove the blasted thing please help the starter doesn't work at all just smokes lol i do have another to replace it with i believe but the one i have has a  C-clip on the end of the bendix and the one on the tractor has a roll pin holding it on i believe the starters will swap right thanks jason

I know that the starter is down on the bottom I am not sure if you can get it out with the engine still in or not. It appears that it comes out with two bolts that are in the top of the starter into the block. I have two of these engines but have never had to change a starter.

Just did one, here is a picture of the infamous bolt under the flywheel.
