Yikes!

After watching that video I keep thinking about all the possible broken / crushed body parts and possible back injury's!

This is just pure insanity!

Most of the fellows doing this are "youngsters"....say 21 to 30 years old.

Not for us old guys that already have aches and pains!

I would say those are more guidelines than rules. I've been doing derbies (cars and trucks) for many years and with what is stated above you can build a tank . . .

How does that agree with rule #1?

They do this at our local fair coming up, all MTD's/Murray/Craftsman/Box store lawn tractors. Occasionally an oldie will get thrown in there. I have personally never watched caused they do it on part of our grandstand track and with the crow and fencing around it, i can see from the infield where I get in for Free  I don't like the mower derby anyway.

The car derbies have went to the toilet too, front wheel drives and compacts. Guess everyone has used up all the old big cars and resorted to the unibodies 80's/90's junk. Best to see the Rustangs getting trashed  :dancingbanana:  :rocker2:  :D  :D

I watched the video... man, my back would not take that for sure.  Don't know what to say...... even box store cheapies don't deserve that.

My friend, Steven, picked up an old craftsman, no deck, not running, scrapyard or parts tractor.  He played with the engine and got old smokey running. His daughter's boyfriend had taken a welding class and had a welder, so he made a protective frame around it for protection.  Stevens son, about 15 or 16, drove it in a kids derby and won.

They all had a ball.  It was one of those where everybody chips in a little into the pot for prizes and I think he won $30 or something like that.

One of the local county fairs held one a few years ago.  Most of the entrants were older or plastic tractors.  The lady who won the event was on a very heavily reinforced JD 212.  The other drivers complained and the fair board has not allowed another GT Derby since.
