I always loved the triples from MH. Darned sharp looking machines.
You've done a great job on that one. Very pretty.

. On my next try I used banner red but could not get a shine at all, even after polishing it. So I sanded that down and went with the Duo version which is supposed to have a primer included??

Is that also called Banner Red or is it something else?

It's also called Banner Red Dual. My wife got this at Wally world to paint a project of hers & it faded bad after a few weeks outside. That's why I was so curious to hear what JD done to get the nice job on the hood.

Yes, Banner Red. I am reluctant to buy another Red tractor after all the trouble I had painting the red on this one. It could be that the conditions weren't good when I painted it and got no shine. It was cool at the time and got quite cold in the garage that night. Anyway, I like the Tremclad - Rustoleum paints much better than the Krylon but there is nothing close to MF red.

I use the MF red from a MF dealer. It is very good.

Can you not get that out east?

I couldn't agree more, I have always thought that the triple series were one fine looking machine with that paint scheme with the gold.  And that is one amazing example.

The nearest MF dealer is about 1hr from here. If they have paint in stock then you are in luck. They will not order paint for you. They wait until they have a large "Chemicals order" and then order it. Whenever I've been in there they are sold out of the red spray paint.  Not good customer service IMO. At the local JD dealer they have the green and yellow on the shelf and if not it will normally be there in 3 days or less. It's the same for parts, JD 3 days or less. MF- 2 weeks or longer.

In case anyone is interested  Ford Race Red in Base Coat Clear coat  is really close to PPG  massey Red ......I used the same paint we use on our MH tractors on a mirror on my wife's  ford fiesta witch is race red and seriously you can't tell the difference .  I have never used base coat clear ....just something to think about  Ive been told the Base coat Clear coat is a lot more forgiving to mistakes
