I've had an MF8 since 2009 and I haven't yet finished restoring it. I've attempted to paint the hood 3 different times and it always went off the rails for some reason. Bad paint sprayer, crappy looking finish with no gloss, but I finally got it good enough and got the decals on it. I used Krylon Dual Banner Red which is a perfect match for Massey red. Unfortunately I don't have the Electric Start decals for the hood but I do have the Hydra Speed ones that I don't need if anyone out there has a set of unused Electric Start decals to trade.

I just spent about an hour trying to get the nose piece to fit. It didn't want to fit in snug against the hood without a lot of adjustments to the front panel of the hood and the edge of the noise piece.  I'll put that on after I finish some other details on the hood, headlights, insulation and such.

I still say nothing looks better than the bright red of a Massey contrasted by the black and grey.

That even comes from a Farmall guy.

Yes, it looks good but for some reason I have had a hard time getting the Red bits painted on this tracor. I have the rolling chassis all done but got stalled on the red bits and the engine.

I love it. What was your process that worked so well for you, wet sand, buff, hardener etc.

Looks great. You must have wet sanded and polished it.

Thanks guys, but, it really isn't that great. The camera is very kind to the paint job. It's just a rattle can job over top of a good primer. It's acceptable looking and probably close to what it looked like when new. For anyone wanting to paint Massey Red the Krylon Banner Red is a perfect match. I know that because I had purchased PPG Massey Red from an automotive store and tried to spray it but the gun malfunctioned and I made a mess of the job. The banner red matched the PPG red perfectly, at least when new. I'm sure it's not as durable or fade resistant. On my next try I used banner red but could not get a shine at all, even after polishing it. So I sanded that down and went with the Duo version which is supposed to have a primer included?? For whatever reason this worked better and I got a reasonable finish. The decals had been around since 2009 when I bought the set of them from Maple Hunter. They still went on easily which was something I was worried about. Now if I could find the time to work on an engine I could have this 8 back on the go before too long.  I may sell it because I don't have a need for an LT but on the other hand it's an easy tractor for my wife to drive for pulling a cart around to do landscape chores. If she likes it we will probably keep it.

It really looks good JD.. The camera can't make it look that good, it's your work that makes it look that good.
