A lot of new tires don't even have .75" tread and why would they make you have that much when a 80,000 lb rig going 60 mph down the road only needs 3/32" on the steer axle and 2/32" on the rest?

I'd sure like to think this is a bad joke but politicians pass rediculous regulations all the time. For now in South Dakota we still don't even have motor vehicle inspection and haven't since 1979 if I remember right.

You NY guys are looking at this all wrong. Your GT mechanics aren't you? How much do you think you can mark up parts and labor to make them compliant?  Maybe you could even have a deposit box at the inspection site for mowers that they don't want to bother fixing!

Your all looking at this the wrong way---Someone must protect us from the huge danger these machines have been to all of us for so many years, all the death and meyham that has been going on for way to long,Thank god some Dingel berry law maker is going to save us all.

Myself I think it's all crock of you know what----if not I guess I will be an outlaw GT owner,Maybe we will have to start a black market for GTs and buy and sell under cover of darkness on a back country road and dark alleys.

PS does anyone know how I can get my 1614 under the 85 DB level?

I did some more digging through the dockets of recently passed laws in the last month or so and there has been no mention of this. Also like with any law it has to be announced in all public news source and usually there is a one year period before a law like this could go into effect to allow people to get there affairs in order. Second when you try digging into this all you do is find it on tractor forums or people trying to offer services on craigslist to fix mower so they can pass this so called new inspection if this was real a lot of people would be screaming on the internet.

After some digging this is all I can find and considering the source I'm not putting much into it.

I read it on the internet so it has to be true.

No way to impose inspection regulations on unregistered equipment. Look for registration laws first. Now THAT I could see happening.

that is a joke (literally)  in NY or anywhere else.  So you show up for inspection with any safety gear known to exist and get a pass... I am stating to see more ear muffs being used as I drive around while people are mowing but wheres the $$$ to hire all the inspectors to drive around and see that you have safety glasses on while people are mowing?   Probably a good idea to use such safety gear but totally unenforceable.  this part of the post is what gave it aaway the most about whether it could actually be for real... (its NOT)
