I just bought a Cub Cadet 3165 for $80 which is a steal for a heavy duty tractor that is shaft drive deck and trans. Hydraulic steering, and hydraulic deck lift, and runs like a top. It only has 865 hours, but it didn't come with a deck, it is missing the side panels, and it don't look pretty. The hood is rusty, but the frame is SOLID with almost no paint chips. It has an electrical issue that I am currently figuring out, but for some reason it moves pretty slow, and almost doesn't move in reverse at low rpm. I know it is a tractor, and not a racecar, but it is about as fast as a brisk walk. What could cause this? Worn out transmission? A linkage out if adjustment? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Your Hydro Release may be partly stuck open.Try grabbing the leaver and work it in and out a few times.

On another note the 2000 and 3000 series are not a very "Fast" tractor. It's suppossed to be around 6mph forward and 3mph in reverse. My 2186 was 6.2mph according to the gps on my old phone.I'm not completely 100% sure but I think they use the same transaxle.

Really? Nobody has an idea?? It goes 3mph, instead of 8 mph like the brochure said.

It should only do 3 mph in reverse at best, especially at idle.
