I would say about half of the ones I have gotten are from word of mouth that we collect them, the other half from Craig's List and ads in papers.
I agree that once you find your first one, they tend to show up more frequently.
As for brand, strive to find something that will be reasonably priced to work on and find attachments for.
John Deere green and Wheel Horse red seem to be two colors that are leading the pack in expense, with probably Sears bringing up the rear as the brand that is least expensive to buy and maintain.
The hobby is taking off, and has been for a couple years. There are good deals out there still.

WOW thanks for all the replies. I an going to go through all of them and keep looking. I am sorry I took so long to respond. This seems to be a GREAT forum. On previous ones I could get a few replies, but never noise many. Thanks again.
