I have a MTD GT20/50, I think is an 800 series. It has an Onan engine vertical shaft, variable speed drive. Cold in the bone yard and deep snow, I'm too much of a wuss to get pictures.
My question is there another place to get the numbers off of the machine besides under the seat? The tag is on the bottom of the seat, but nothing is legible. I see that most of the variable speed belts for the larger models are the same. It looks like a pair of drive belts for the early models are sold in sets because of the rear cog belt sticking.
Thanks to you guys and this forum I have learned a lot already about MTD. I have ran Cubs, John Deeres and Agco Allis, all hydrostat, but the variable speed driveline fasinates me.

I don't know much about the MTD's but I can welcome you to the site and hopefully someone with more knowledge on them will chime in.
