Hi, the type numbers comes back with the engine being born in August of 1964.

Would you by any chance be talking about a Garden Mark, the gold tractors were called Squire 9 and came with the 9 hp Briggs 23D engine.

Hi there.  I see you are new to the forum.  You have a really nice looking GT there and should start a new thread.  Stories like yours are what makes this a great site.

Someone should be along soon that can tell you more about what you have.  The Garden Mark Squire I had was made by Simplicity.  Not sure who made yours.

Some purists wouldn't be keen on the paint job, but on the other hand, you are taking care of a special antique and by fixing things to keep it going, you are preserving a vintage GT.  I like the combination of red and black and I see that you intend to use it.  Keep it up.

A running and functional garden tractor for $150 is always a good deal.

I split the posts about your tractor into it's own thread. More guys will see it there and welcome you and your Garden Mark properly.

Help me

I changed the title from squirl to squire. Does that count? I'm not sure about the tractor but if you can find the tag and post the info we might be able to tell who built it.

Oh, that is nothing like mines, not at all, looks like the Gilson rebranded by Monkey Wards, interesting it would have the Briggs 19D instead of the 23D 9 hp.

Looks to be in good shape, some of the other guys will be here shortly to help some more.

Need info

I moved your other posts into a thread of their own, and am going to merge this one with that.

Also, the hood says "Squire 7" on it, I assuming that is correct and it's really a Seven, so I changed the 9 to a 7
