im having problems adjusting the rearend play on my 1966 bolens 1050. Iv seen the instructions on how do do it but was wondering if the posi lock pin has to be in or out ?also should I be in gear. another thing is when I feel the binding of gears starting,,is it a clicking sound like gears starting to touch or is it just a feeling of wheels being harder to turn, any help would be appreciated.

Pin IN .

Just tighten until you feel it getting slightly harder to turn.

This assumes both wheels are off the ground and free to rotate.  ....Wheels can be on or off the tractor to make the adjustment.
