I have 2 LGT open side models with 12 hp Kohlers....Both gas tanks leak and are rusty inside...I found a smaller plastic tank from an old MTD or something that fits OK on the one, but would like something the right size......I work at NAPA and the machine shop guy can order me some coating that goes inside the tanks to reaseal them once they are cleaned out with muratic acid....

Questions....Anyone ever use this stuff, does it work?

Anyone know of replacement plastic tanks that would fit these engines and under my hood properly?

The coating work miracles if you follow the directions. IF

A lot of guys try to take short cuts on this, don't or your problem will come back.

As for the acid, if it's pin-holey and you're afraid to do this, clean it as best you can with non-invasive means.
Sand in it & shake it until you can't anymore, then come back & do it again is a trick we used on one. It seems to be holding.
Another we used the acid & then jb welded the pin holes before we coated. It also seems to be holding.

This basically puts a liner on the inside of the tank that works well. Ask questions before buying... then verify the answers.

Try to gauge the amount correctly, this stuff is expensive & you don't want to waste it.

BTW, Had a friend buy the cheap stuff & it didn't work, dunno if it was prep or product failure tho...

Kreem kits are around $35 or so and will do any size GT tank easy. IT WORKS! Used it many times & never had a coating fail me.

It says there 2.5 gal......I guess that means that the kit will do a 2.5 gallon tank?

My guy says there is enough in the quart I will get to do 2 tanks, so I guess the price is about the same, as I have to buy the muratic acid too.

The Kreem kit comes with acid & water dispersant, and the liner....complete kit if ordered that way.

I've used the fuel tank coating from Eastwood Company in PA with good results on some vintage motorcycle tanks, one has been fine for over 20 years now. However I see most of these sealers all have disclaimers on them about the use of ethanol fuels.
