I'm about to scrap 3 or 4 large frame mower decks.
I've never worked on them or looked for parts for them.
My question is, what parts are worth pulling off to put on E/bay or here ?

It seems the gear boxes are worth saving. Not sure if there is anything else that would sell.

Hate to scrap anything Bolens, but it's time too.

I'm also scrapping a 1455 & a 1250. Both were bought as non runners years ago. Not sure is they do or not. If anyone needs parts, let me know. I'll most likely part the Wisconsin engines out on eBay. Hopefully it will be worth my time.

Anyone looking for a HT-23 ? Bought that one as is years ago as well. Never tried to get it running. It's rough looking but it's a complete tractor.

I got a little side tracked here, sorry. For now I'm just wondering about the deck parts. Any suggestions as to what to save would be appreciated, thanks.

I'll check the model #'s of the decks I'm scrapping. And let you know via pm ASAP

I don't want this thread to become a for sale thread, but if you're looking for something PM me.

I mainly wanted to know what's worth saving off the decks

Thanks

Ken, I surely do wish you were closer. Having another 1455 would make my restoration of the Johnson forklift modification on one a lot easier.

I am sorry to hear that you have to let all the stuff go, but only to well do I know that storage space is a premium problem with me also. Any piece that is a component part of that deck can be sold . The deck pan its self and even the bearing towers. As heavy as the deck pan is the do rot away with bad maintenance. I would love another 1250 but I do not travel well anymore. Good luck with all that stuff.

The attachment hardware is a definite. Seems we've had quite a few threads recently were someone got a package or deck seperately with the wrong or missing draft arms.

1455 is a hydro large frame with a eaton 12 rear, the 1556 is a hydro tube frame with a eaton 10 rear, the eaton 12 will not work in place of the eaton 10.

Thanks for answering his question Jerome, I've be tied up all day.

Turns out it's a 1477 not a 1455. Just noticed today. But it's the same answer, hydro won't work in his 1556

Hey I am happy I can help if you were not so far away I would make a deal with you on the stuff.  I would list the tractors Ken even if you only get $200 out of them thats more them they would bring for scrap and there not getting cut up. I dont know what is scrap is going for around you.   Whats size are the decks?

The big ones. lol I have one 48" deck that was on the first large frame I ever owned, but that one is toast. The guy I got it from butchered the heck out of it.

Most of the decks are from HT's a few older ones from 1886's.

I have lots of interest in the 1250 & 1477. I'd much rather sell them to someone who needs parts or would like to try to make them runners again.
BUT they gotta go. They are outside and I'm determined to have my yard junk free ASAP. Thankfully my entire back yard in fenced in with a 6' privacy fence or my neighbors would be bitching I'm sure.

Scrap steel is going for $9.50 per hundred rite now. My trailer is loaded almost with at least 3,000 lbs of stuff I've saved in the past year from demo jobs. Van is loaded with copper, aluminum and copper/aluminum rads. I'll be topping off the trailer with steel tomorrow and cashing it in Tuesday hopefully.

Speaking of getting rid of stuff. I just sold this after having it my driveway for 3 or 4 years. My wife was dancing in the street when it was hauled away. I'm kinda glad it's gone too. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1403496445.633868.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1403496461.518742.jpg

Wanta Swap for the decks and the 1250 and 1477?

I'll swap you this G11 with a deck, tiller and plow for them.I mow with this old girl every week and tilled up the garden with it this spring. She runs really strong.

It's a 1254 with G11 engine and G11 sheet metal.I just rebuilt the driveshaft and mower gear box this spring.Only thing it needs yet is the bottom PTO Belt guard and the headlights and tail lights rewired (which I'm going to do tomorrow) It has a dual charging (AC/DC) system under the flywheel.Have to run 1 wire from the AC output wire to the light switch and run the tail light wire yet.

It's not much to look at but it's a good running tractor and I would LOVE to have a Large frame with a decent deck.I just hate to see Any old bolens GTs especially a Large Frame get parted or scrapped.

Id like to help you out Eric, but I have no use for any more tractors. I'm trying to down size big time. I recently sold all my tube frame stuff to a member here.

Where about do you live in pa ? I don't have any work in pa now, but I never know what will pop up. I've worked all over Pa in the past.
