i have a 14hp briggs cast with a weak spark.it has a starter generator.i want to add a coil.anyone have a wiring diagram they could post? thanks

Have you tried a new condenser? You might be able to even put it in parallel with the kill wire just to test.
Worth a try anyways.

Yes, a external coil can be used instead, simple to hook up but a coil with a internal balance resister must be had or it will burn out the points.

 

I am under the impression this Briggs cast iron is in a Simplicity Sovereign ? as stated above you might check or swap out the condenser.

 

Try this also :

 

Spark plug gap - .025

Breaker points gap - 16 to 18

Condenser needs to have a good ground. Make sure engine to frame of tractor is good too. Any bad connection will cause bad spark. Noel
