Ok i was at a outdoor power show today and meet a guy that has worked for hayward distrabution for 30 or so years. We got to talking as i was hoping they would still have some parts hid away no luck. Any way he told me a funny bolens story. He said back in the 40's the owner was a big ford dealer. Henry ford called all the dealers and so to a meeting. At the meeting ford walked onto a stage with a lawyer and told everyone there they had to forfiet there dearlships to him or they would be cancelled. So the owner of hayward closed down.

It was a coulpe years later the owner of hayward got a call from one of his friends about some yahoo groupe that was biulding a tractor with a mower deck under it they were called Bolens. They decided to go up and check them out. They toured the factory and so on. Then they got to business and ask what they needed to do to become a distributor. Bolens said all they needed to do was buy 4 tractors. They thought worse could happen is they would get stuck trying two sell 2 and have to keep two. So they bought them and then became one of the largest distributor in the us until Troy Built bought them and destroyed the name.

Just never stops amazing me to here stories like this and wonder how these businesses can take a great name and product and destroy it after they buy it. Well any way it was fun to talk to him and hear the old stories.

No from what i know they would sell all the parts tractors and attachments to the dealers. They would also help new dealers start selling the line. They cover the northeast part of the country.
